At CESI, our mission is to empower people to overcome their financial challenges and lead financially-healthy lives.
As part of our mission to offer financial education, we have a robust Community Outreach Program that offers financial literacy workshops and classes in our local community throughout the Triangle region of North Carolina.
In 2019, we offered 213 in-person outreach sessions to more than 3,700 individuals and families covering a variety of topics related to financial literacy including:
- Budgeting Basics
- Understanding Credit and Debt
- Reading and Understanding Your Credit Score
- Banking and Savings
- Financial Goal Setting
- Student Loans
- Maximizing Money for your budget
- Identity Theft
- Personal Finance Series for Refugees and Immigrants
We served a wide variety of clients in 2019 through partnerships with more than 20 community agencies, schools, libraries and churches. The majority of those attending fell into the Low to Moderate Income (LMI) catagory, with a reported household income of $30,000 or less. 14% of attendees reported that they did not finish high school, and 45% had a high school diploma or GED. 11% reported a college degree or beyond.
